For Families

Potomac Nannies and More only works with professional nannies who have worked for two or more years as a nanny, teacher, pre- teacher or in some other child-related capacity. The entire focus of our agency is on children. We do our best to only work with nannies who have a passion for childcare. We have developed a comprehensive system for interviewing, reference checking and background searches so that families can be sure of their childcare choices.

::About our Nannies::

We place both live-in and live-out professional nannies in the Maryland, Virginia and Washington DC area. Our candidates must be fluent and literate in English, able to drive and have two or more years of nanny and/or experience with verifiable references. Our reference checking procedure is one of the most stringent in the country. We require that nannies who work with infants and newborns have prior experience with children of that age, and that our candidates be legally eligible to work in the U.S.Nanny salaries and duties.

Our nannies’ salaries range from $500 to $750 per week. The nanny focuses on your children and performs light, child-related household chores, such as the children’s laundry, cooking for the children and tidying up the kitchen and children’s rooms. If you need more housekeeping needs, this can be discussed with your nanny.

::The process::

To begin a nanny job search, we will need a full description of your family’s needs. This can start by a call or by filling out our . If you prefer to interview the nannies in your home, we will set up interviews at mutually convenient times, which includes evenings and weekends. At the time of interview each nanny will have her references thoroughly checked; all criminal background checks are done once the family notifies us she has been hired. Nannies without current CPR will be sent to a CPR class after she has been hired.

::Our costs, fees and replacement policy::

Our placement fee is 10% of one year’s gross salary. Included in our fee is a four-month replacement period, CPR for the nanny, driving report and criminal background report(s). The replacement period assures you that if your nanny is fired or leaves the job for any reason we will replace her without an additional placement fee. Where possible, we like the nanny to work for a “trial week” before you pay our fee. This helps make you feel more secure that you made the right choice.
